Our Dental Implants Are Built to Last for Years to Come

Dental Implants Also Help with Jawbone Atrophy

Healthy teeth stimulate the jawbone, ensuring the area receives the nutrients needed to maintain strong, dense bone structure.

When teeth are lost, these signals stop and the jawbone begins to shrink, or atrophy. By replacing the roots of a tooth as well as the crown, implant-supported restorations help prevent atrophy and ensure your jaw stays strong and healthy.

We Provide Both Titanium and Zirconia Implants

Titanium implants have been used in dentistry for over 60 years with excellent results. However, about four percent of people tested are allergic or sensitive to titanium. At Enlighten Dental, we also offer zirconia implants, a metal-free, all-ceramic alternative to titanium implants. Our Zirkolith® zirconia implants are manufactured in Switzerland by Z-systems, the largest manufacturer of zirconia implants worldwide. Now teeth can be predictably replaced from root to crown with absolutely no metal.

Our Techniques With a Holistic Approach Can Improve Your Results

At Enlighten Dental, our doctors use selected technology and techniques to protect your overall health while replacing missing teeth. We can use platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) to accelerate healing, especially if you also require a tooth extraction. Our doctors also use ozone therapy to sterilize surgical sites and help prevent infection.

Preparation

If necessary, we can prepare the treatment site by performing a bone graft or infection removal using ozone and PRF therapy. The exact preparation involved depend on your unique needs.

Placement

One of our dentists will create an incision in your gums and place the titanium or zirconia dental implant directly into your jawbone to replace your natural tooth root. Dental implant surgery is performed on-site at our Vancouver office.

Healing

Over the next few months, the implant will fuse with the surrounding bone tissue in a process called osseointegration. This will provide a healthy, stable foundation for your final crown, bridge, or denture.

Abutment

Once your implants have fully fused with the bone tissue, you can come back to our office to receive your abutments. These custom-made anchors will securely connect your implant to your new artificial teeth.

Final Restoration

Our dentists work with trusted labs to create high-quality, lifelike restorations that are custom-made to flatter your features. Once your permanent restoration is attached to your abutments, you can enjoy a smile that feels natural.

Post-Operative Symptoms Typically Last a Few Days

After implant surgery, it is normal to experience some minor bleeding, swelling, and discomfort. Your dentist may prescribe pain relievers. However, many patients manage their pain with over-the-counter medications.

To help minimize symptoms and prevent infection, you should:

  • Apply ice packs
  • Sleep with your head elevated
  • Take all medication as instructed
  • Avoid strenuous activity until cleared by your doctor
  • Maintain a consistent oral health routine
  • Attend follow-up appointments with our team

If you notice excessive bleeding or your symptoms worsen after the first few days, contact our office immediately.

Dental Implants Can Improve Your Overall Quality of Life

Once the implants have fully healed, most patients enjoy strong and secure restorations and a significant improvement in their overall oral health. You can be more confident and comfortable when you are eating and smiling.

Caring for dental implants requires few to no changes in your daily oral hygiene routine. Our doctors may recommend certain tools or products to maintain the health of your implants and your overall oral health.

The Cost of Rebuilding Your Smile with Implants Varies Based on Your Needs

At Enlighten Dental, we understand the importance of personalizing treatments to the unique needs of our patients. There are a variety of factors which can affect the final cost of dental implants.

The best way to find out how much it will cost to restore your smile with implants is to schedule a consultation at our Vancouver practice.

Your Goals and Current Oral Health Affect the Final Treatment Cost

Preparatory Procedures

If you need a bone graft, gum treatment, or another preparatory treatment, your final bill will be a bit higher. However, properly preparing for implant placement can significantly reduce the chance of complications.

Number of Implants

In general, it costs less to replace a single missing tooth at Enlighten Dental than a full dental arch. The number of teeth you need to replace as well as the amount of implants can affect your overall treatment cost.

Sedation

Dental sedation helps to ensure your treatments are as painless and stress-free as possible. The type of sedation you choose may impact how much your procedure costs.

Restoration Type

The size of restoration you need and the materials you select also play a role in the cost of treatment with dental implants. Our team can fully explain your options to you so you can make an informed decision about your restoration.

Insurance Does Not Cover Implants, But Financing Can Reduce Costs

In general, dental insurance does not cover the full cost of rebuilding your smile with dental implants. However, many plans will cover the cost of the restoration or certain other aspects of treatment.

There are also a variety of financing options which can help cover out-of-pocket costs associated. We work hard to ensure our patients have access to the care they need and can discuss available financing with you during your consultation.

Because of Their Many Benefits Implants Are Very Popular

Frequently Asked Questions about Receiving Dental Implants

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots made out of titanium or zirconia that are placed into the jawbone.

What are metal-free implants?

Zirconia implants are an option for patients who want a more aesthetic and metal-free option. Our Vancouver office is proud to make them available for patients.

Which material is better: titanium or zirconia?

Each material has advantages and disadvantages and both work extremely well when used appropriately with adequate bone and soft tissue.

Is it painful to receive dental implants?

The process of receiving implants is generally comfortable and the implants literally become attached to the jawbone. Most patients report minimal post-operative pain and tell us they are as comfortable and solid as their own teeth.

Will I have to go without teeth?

During the initial phase of treatment, the implants are placed into the jawbone. In most cases, they require several months of healing before they can be restored. Removable or fixed partial dentures can be made to keep you smiling when the teeth are in visible areas.

In some cases with titanium implants, temporary crowns can be placed at the time of surgery to avoid the need for a temporary denture. In many cases involving complete dentures, the full arch of new temporary teeth can be secured by implants on the day of surgery. These procedures are often advertised as “teeth in a day” or “same day teeth.”

Biocompatible Dental Implants: Superior Tooth Replacement

A dental implant in the jawbone

In today’s lifestyle-focused society, conventional methods of replacing missing teeth are no longer acceptable options. A bridge involves cutting down good adjacent teeth to replace the missing one. Removable dentures that affect your speech, trap food when eating, and are placed in a glass of water at night are no longer tolerated.

Dental Implant Placement: Dental implantology is an amazing technology for tooth replacement. In most cases, there is absolutely no better option to replace teeth. If you are a denture-wearer, dental implants can also help with retention of your denture and maintaining your oral structures.
Our office is experienced in dental implantology with a spectacular success rate and selected technology.
